Modern floor coverings — click vinyl and microtopping
We install two modern floor coverings: rigid click vinyl and microtopping. Both are often laid over the existing floors, without demolition and with minimal mess — but durability depends on correct substrate preparation.
What they are and how they work
Click vinyl is a rigid floor covering (SPC/LVT) with a mineral core, a decor layer and a transparent wear layer with UV protection. It is laid glue-free as a click system or glued, is 100% waterproof, warm and quiet underfoot. Microtopping is a seamless mineral coating 2–3 mm thick, applied in layers and sealed with polyurethane lacquer — a monolithic concrete look without joints (details on the Microtopping page).
Where we use it
- 01Flats and houses — living spaces, corridors
- 02Bathrooms and wet rooms — waterproof vinyl or microtopping
- 03Rental and holiday units — fast, robust execution
- 04Offices and shops — the appropriate wear class
- 05Renovations — often over an existing screed or tiles
Advantages
Waterproof
Rigid vinyl is 100% waterproof; microtopping is waterproof once sealed.
No demolition
Often laid over the existing floor — less dust, noise and waste.
Fast execution
Vinyl is often laid in 1–2 days; minimal disruption to living.
Warm and quiet
Vinyl is warm to the touch and dampens footstep noise; suitable for underfloor heating.
Wear class
We choose the right class (e.g. 33/42 for residential and light commercial use).
Design
Wood/stone decors with vinyl; a seamless concrete look with microtopping.
Comparison
| Click vinyl | Microtopping | |
|---|---|---|
| Look | wood / stone decor, seams | seamless, monolithic concrete |
| Thickness | ~4–6 mm (click/glued) | ~2–3 mm coating |
| Over existing floor | yes, on a level substrate | yes, on a prepared substrate |
| Waterproof | 100% (rigid core) | yes, after PU sealing |
| Duration | 1–2 days | 3–5 days incl. drying |
| Underfloor heating | yes | yes |
| No visible seams | no (plank seams) | yes |
Look and finish
With vinyl you choose the decor (wood, stone, concrete), surface texture and edge finish with trim profiles; with microtopping the tone and finish (matte/satin/gloss). We advise which covering truly suits your space and its load.
How it works
- 01Site visit, measuring and substrate check (flatness, moisture)
- 02Written quote with price and deadline within three working days
- 03Substrate preparation and levelling; acclimatisation if needed
- 04Laying (click or glued) with expansion gaps
- 05Trim profiles and thresholds, cleaning and handover
Honestly — what we flag
Rigid vinyl hides minor unevenness but not larger ones — a wavy substrate shows over time and can creak, so levelling is often necessary (and part of the price). Vinyl is not for permanent sun/outdoor exposure and is sensitive to sharp objects and heat. The substrate must be dry; if in doubt we measure the moisture. If something is not suitable, we tell you.
Frequent questions
Can it be laid over existing tiles?
Often yes — on a level, sound and dry substrate; joints are evened out if needed. Otherwise we prepare the substrate.
Is vinyl suitable for a bathroom?
Rigid vinyl is waterproof and bathroom-suitable; for permanently wet zones we advise on seams and edges.
How long does it take?
Vinyl usually 1–2 days per room; microtopping 3–5 working days with drying between coats.
Is it suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes, both coverings are compatible with underfloor heating, following the guidelines.
